The Gate shows evidence of being built in phases, all done during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar II.During the first stage of construction with blocks without any type of glaze.
The second stage was made with thin glazed blocks while the third stage added colorful thin blocks and decorative reliefs. Given the successful last stage the door stood out from the other buildings of the city.
